span style="font-family: Tahoma;">The College of Dentistry at Ajman University of Science and Technology has obtained academic accreditation from the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for its new Master in Restorative Dentistry program. Thus AUST joints a very exclusive group of higher education institutions which offer dental doctors and graduates the possibility to pursue their postgraduate studies in one of the most sought after specialties in dentistry.

span style="font-family: Tahoma;">Restorative dentistry refers to the restoration of natural teeth that have been damaged, decayed or lost. It is a rapidly growing dental specialty as more and more people are taking care of their dental health and the appearance of their denture.

span style="font-family: Tahoma;">On this new achievement, Dr. Salem Abou Fanas, dean of AUST College of Dentistry commented: “Thanks to a mutual endeavor between the College of Dentistry and the Commission of Medical Innovation Environment, as well as the directives of the University President, we were able to meet the high standards imposed by the Commission for Academic Accreditation, and obtain accreditation for this unique master program of Restorative Dentistry.” He also noted that: “We are now one of only two private institutions in the UAE which offer dental graduates and doctors the opportunity to pursue their postgraduate studies.”

span style="font-family: Tahoma;">The new program will add up to the Doctor of Dental Surgery program already offered by the college. This bachelor-equivalent program was the first of its kind to be proposed by a private higher education institution in the whole GCC region. The master program is expected to attract graduates of AUST College of Dentistry and other similar colleges as well as dental practitioners in the UAE and neighboring countries.

span style="font-family: Tahoma;">The Master in Restorative Dentistry will be offered as from the Spring Semester 2010-2011 and will take 3 years to finish. After completing all the requirements for graduation, graduates will also obtain a Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons in Ireland after passing the MFDS exams that is considered as one the most prestigious credential in the field.
