I'm assistant professor, College of Dentistry (COD), Ajman University. Head of Department of Basic Medical & Dental Sciences. My major field is Biology and I teach undergraduate & postgraduate students. My M.Sc. and Ph.D. projects were studying the effects of ionizing radiation in biological systems at cellular levels in inducing chromosomal aberrations, polyploidy, cell cycle, cell fusion and chromatin conformation. These studies were performed both in vivo & in vitro using immunofluorescence microscope and flow cytometers. My researches in the last few years are in the field of Oral Biology. I have 16 publications, 9 presentations, 5 research grants & 26 participations in workshops, training courses & conferences.

Research
  • 1989-1997: Worked as researcher in Dept. of Radio-Biology & Health, Atomic Energy Commission of Syria and worked as a lecturer for part time. After my graduation, I worked in the same field, using similar techniques, studying the theoretical and practical approaches of flow cytometry and the methods used in biological and clinical analyses, and following works were carried out: 1. Flow cytometrical study of chromatin conformation in human lymphocytes of patients with hereditary diseases. 2. Flow cytometrical study of chromatin conformation and chromosomal aberrations in human lymphocytes after irradiation and hyperthermia. 3. The effect of Gamma rays on liver ploidy of mouse embryo using flow cytometry. Flow cytometrical study of estrogen receptor and DNA content in breast cancer. 4. The effect of Deltamethrin on cell cycle stages of chicken embryo organogenesis. A flow cytometrical study.
  • 1983-1989: Studies and researches for M.Sc. & Ph.D. The aims of my M.Sc. and Ph.D. projects were studying the effects of ionizing radiation in biological systems at cellular levels in inducing chromosomal aberrations, polyploidization, cell cycle, cell fusion and chromatin conformation. These studies were performed both in vivo (Rats, Mice Guinea pigs) & in vitro (Lymphocytes, V-97 & Hela cells) using immunofluorescence microscope and flow cytometry.
  • The last few years I do research in oral biology with other staff in College of Dentistry.
