CAA Increases the Admission Threshold for College of Dentistry

Ajman University of Science and Technology takes pride in announcing that after due visit and approvals the Commission of Academic Accreditation (CAA) has expanded the intake of students allowed into the College of Dentistry. This fortifies our march forth and gives more students the ideal opportunity to join the student fraternity at the University.

Dr. Abdul Haq Al Nuaimi, Acting Chancellor, Ajman University and Vice- Chancellor for Student Affairs and Cultural Activities, stated, “The CAA has approved an increase in the annual student enrollment to the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program at Ajman campus to be 175 students, and to 65 students in Fujairah. This comes at an opportune time specially when students are vying for seats in this prestigious College, traditionally Ajman University allocates the seats to the students with the highest scores and due to limited number of seats, much is left to be desired for the students. This increase in seats is surely a welcome gesture of confidence from the CAA”

He further elucidated that Ajman University is indebted to the relentless support and encouragement extended by The Ministry of Higher Education’s licensing agency, the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), to our institution. On our part, we adhere to the strict guidelines and regulations covering areas such as academic staff, courses, licensing, quality control and institutional effectiveness to ensure all our programs are compliant with them.

Dr. Salim Abu Fanas, Dean, College of Dentistry explained, “This year particularly the high school students have shown keen interest in enrolling at the College due to its growing demand in the labour market. The DDS program in both campuses caters to local, regional and international students, we currently house more than 40 nationalities, who are attracted by the highly professional educational tenure and the practical experience that we provide on campus. Our clinics serve the community for free and have till date treated 140,000 patients; under the competent supervision of seasoned dentists and professors. In 2003 the number of clinics were 75, today that figure stands at 144, this increase in patients and clinics in indicative of our need to expand the student’s intake”

Ajman University is in the process of contacting the students who are on the waiting list and new enrollments are being catered to at the Sheikh Zayed Hall for Conferences and Exhibition. A venue dedicated to registration and admission, wherein the new student is able to complete the entire process with the assistance of members of the various departments of the University.
