AU Dentistry Students Secure First Position at National Level

Students Hammad Alghefly, Isshag Faisal and Mahmoud Nagia from the College of Dentistry at Ajman University were able to win first place at the level of the UAE in the International Dental Debate Tournament organized by the Gulf Dental Students Association (GDSA).

The GDSA is a dental association founded in 2014 with an aim to enhance the quality and standards of the dental student's skills through the establishment and development of leadership workshops, volunteer programs and research projects as extracurricular activities. GDSA also aims to train dental students and collaborate with dental academics and institutions in the Middle East, Arab countries, and globally.

Ajman University's debating team were able to overcome their opponents of the University of Sharjah in the second round of the tournament at national level, and thus earning qualification to compete at the international level of the tournament.

Three universities participated in the competition alongside Ajman University they were the

University of Sharjah, Gulf Medical University and Ras Al Khaimah Medical University.

The first debate the AU team underwent was the discussion  "The reason behind the modern negative image of doctors as money lynchers"

The final one revolved around another controversial medical topic:  "Should those diagnosed with a terminal illness be granted the right to access treatment that has not completed clinical testing?".

The aim of the Gulf-scale competition is to enhance students self-confidence, enrich them with general as well as specialized medical knowledge in various fields and to develop the talent of scientific debating among students.

Ajman University is proud of its students and their remarkable achievement.
