International Dental Conference 2017 held at Ajman University

Ajman University organized an International Dental Conference at Ajman University, it witnessed a stellar attendance from academicians and practitioners of the Dentistry field. Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University along with the guest of honors; Dr. Aisha Sultan, President of Emirates Dental Medical Association and Dr. Patrick Byrne, President of the Irish Dental Association society, inaugurated the Conference.

The first speech was for Dr. Patrick Byrne, President of Irish Dental Association, in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the university for organizing this conference. He also expressed his admiration for the level of scientific and technical development the College has achieved since its establishment.

Chancellor Seghir gave the welcome speech and stated, “College of Dentistry has been the pioneer in quality professional oral and dental healthcare education in the region. It has persistently grown and established into a well-reputed institution, recognized by the society, the authorities and the dental industry.  At AU, we strongly believe that growth is indeed an incessant process. Continuous Professional Development initiatives such as these are certainly a significant channel for achieving professional excellence as well as a driver for innovations. The theme of the conference, Advancing Excellence in Dental Care, is therefore, very apt for the current time. To meet the challenges of rapid evolutions in the healthcare system, we need to make more sustainable and affordable changes. I am sure this conference is a stepping-stone towards that.

In September this year, the College of Dentistry completes 2 decades of exemplary performance and achievements. While Ajman University is very proud of this milestone, it is entering a new era with a new identity and a fresh vision in order to establish it as pioneer in higher education. We aim to develop our facilities, launch new programs, and invest and support research. We plan to achieve this by forging new partnerships with leading industries and the society. Collaborations with professional bodies such as the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Emirates Medical Association-Dental Society, as well as with leading healthcare commercial establishments and renowned academicians are steps that are definitely aligned with our new vision”.

Dr. Salim Abu Fanas, Dean, College of Dentistry welcomed the honorable guests and delegates and expressed his trust in the outcomes and recommendations of the conference. He outlined the importance of this conference not only in the region but also for the students who will benefit from the exchange of knowledge and expertise on an ideal platform. He encouraged all the participants to attend the many workshops and panel discussions that took place during the day.

The conference included lectures, workshops and presentations in the different fields of Dentistry, which cover most importantly the new technology and researches that facilitate the work of the doctor and ensure the delivery of best quality of treatment. They also discussed the most important difficulties faced by doctors in the treatment of several types of complex cases and the latest solutions to deal with these situations.

The agenda of the conference included speakers from various countries, including professors and doctors from the Republic of Ireland, as well as faculty members from several universities in the UAE and abroad.

“Table Clinic “exhibition accompanying the conference program which was organized by the department of post graduate studies, A Posters for complex and comprehensive cases that were fully treated by the students of “Restorative Dentistry master program” under the supervision of Dr. Emad Al Subaihi, Program Director, and other faculty members in the program were also displayed in the exhibition.   

At the end of the conference, Dr. Abu Fanas honored all the speakers at the conference as well as the organizing committee. He also expressed his appreciation and thanks to the University administration for providing all kinds of support required for the success of this event.
