Royal College of Dentistry Holds Exams at Ajman University

College of Dentistry at Ajman University of Science and Technology hosted the Member of the Faculty of Dentistry Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (MFDRCSI) examination in the United Arab Emirates, at Ajman campus.  The examinations were conducted at Sheikh Zayed Centre for Exhibition and Conferences, also present were  Dr. Khalid AL Khaja, Acting Chancellor, Ajman University, Dr. Salim AbuFanas, Dean College of Dentistry, Ajman University. The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland was represented by Dr. Patrick Barien, RCSI; Dr. John Walsh, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry of RCSI and other members of their team.

More than 100 dentists from Middle East region attended the examination of Part 1 and Part2, this number has doubled since last year as royal college has seen the impressive facilities of Ajman University, which has facilitated the increment. The examination is divided into parts that focus on basic theoretical knowledge, the clinical competencies followed by Viva Examination held by 14 Dental Specialists, 7 from Royal College and 7 from Ajman University.

This cooperation is extended to postgraduate study in Dentistry, as RCSI accredited MSc of Restorative Dentistry and all graduates have a right to sit for the Fellowship examination in restorative surgery and upon completion will be awarded a second degree from Royal College. Future collaboration will ensure students have more career options, its worthy to note that Ajman University is the first Higher Education Institute to be accredited by the Royal Ireland College to conduct First and Second part exams at Ajman Campus.
