Ajman University hosted a specialized "Sim lab Training workshop on Pedodontic Zirconia Crowns" conducted in the College of Dentistry. It was organized on the sidelines of International Association of Pediatric Dentistry Regional Meet Dubai 2017, a first of its kind in the Middle Eastern region.
Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor, Ajman University welcomed the dignitaries and participants who had graced the event from around the world and especially from the UAE and Middle East. Chancellor Seghir in his welcome address stressed on the strong close ties between the AU College of Dentistry and the Dentistry fraternity in the UAE. He appreciated the participants support to the pediatric dentistry in the UAE. Dr. Salem Abu Fanas, Dean College of Dentistry outlined the significance of this workshop and the conference to the pediatric dentistry in the UAE.
It was conducted by Dr. Bill Waggoner, American Board Certified Pediatric Dentist, Las Vegas, USA. Academicians and practicing clinicians hailing from around the world attended the event. Dr. Bill has an extensive experience in training, research and practicing in the sensitive field of pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Salem also said that oral dental health is very important, as it is an integral part of the public health care. He took this opportunity to announce that a Master’s Degree in Pediatric Dentistry is under consideration at AU.
On the sidelines of the workshop, a specialized fully equipped dental laboratory and clinic was inaugurated in the presence of all the dignitaries at College of Dentistry, Ajman University. The facility is built on international standards and is equipped to facilitate dental education in the pre-clinical stages.
The workshop focused on preparing tooth that is suitable for the installation of crowns made from zircon material bearing the color of the natural teeth. This is for the first time that in an international conference is organized that solely focuses on Pediatric Dentistry; it is a collaborative initiative under the supervision of the UAE Pediatric Club.
